NFI’s Occupational Associate Degree (OAD) In Cinema is a 60-credit program designed to create well-rounded filmmakers and screenwriters who not just have an understanding of how to use filmmaking equipment and software, but who also understand the challenges of how to convey and appropriately depict the human condition and the nuances of life. By studying topics such as psychology and cultural anthropology, film students graduate with knowledge to create characters and dialogue with depth and gravitas. The OAD program also includes film business classes are intended to create professionalism early on in the program so students are prepared for managing and succeeding in real-world environments.

NFI Cinema Production Diploma Program graduates can transfer those credits and begin in the 2nd semester of our OAD program with a special tuition discount!

There are 20 courses comprising the cinema occupational associate degree program.

Each course completion earns 3 semester credit hours.

15 of the filmmaking courses are dedicated to videography, filmmaking, and screenwriting. 5 courses are dedicated to general education and business / professional practices, all of which are built to be relevant to the film industry.
